PHOKWANE LOCAL MUNICIPALITY
NOTIFICATION: ENVIRONMENTAL AUTHORISATION GRANTED FOR THE RECREATIONAL AND TOURIST DEVELOPMENT AT THE GANSPAN WETLAND RESERVE, PHOKWANE LOCAL MUNICIPALITY, FRANCES BAARD DISTRICT MUNICIPALITY, NORTHERN CAPE PROVINCE (NC/BA/18/FB/PHO/GAN1/2019):
The Frances Baard District Municipality (FBDM) obtained environmental authorisation (EA) from the Department of Environment and Nature Conservation (DENC) for the construction and operation of a recreational and tourist facility at the Ganspan Wetland Reserve in terms of the National Environmental Management Act (Act 107 of 1998) (NEMA) and will remain valid for a ten year period. The authorisation granted on the 19 March 2020 was received on the 25 May 2020.
The applicant is duly notifying all registered Interested and Affected Parties of the decision in terms of regulation 4 (2) of the 2014 Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations. Please find a copy of the Environmental Authorisation here. For reasons of the decision by the competent authority refer to Annexure 1 of the EA, page 15.
Should you wish to appeal this decision, please submit an appeal in writing to the appeal administrator and provide a copy thereof to the applicant, any registered interested and affected party and organ of state with interests in the matter within 20 days from the date of this notification, please ensure all appeals are submitted before the 28 June 2020.
