About Hartswater
Hartswater is situated in the Northern Cape close to the neighbouring North West Province. Hartswater forms part of the Vaalharts Irrigation Scheme and falls within the Diamond Fields Region.
The town was laid out in 1948 and was established to serve the northern part of the Harts valley. This area, originally a wilderness of natural shrub and trees, was plagued with aridity and had no hope of future agricultural development until the irrigation scheme was introduced.
